I was eating the buttery glaze off of the top of my pancake, ...mmm, butter. So rich and creamy... Sorry, got distracted there. Anyways, my mom plopped down a fresh pancake straight off the griddle, onto my plate. The steam was rising up off the stack; the aroma could be smelled throughout the house. Oh it was good to be home for mom's cooking!
Suddenly, there was a crash from outside. I grabbed the Louisville slugger
from the broom closet, and mom followed behind me, as we went to investigate
the disturbance.
I slowly opened the sliding glass door. Scanning the yard for any sort of
movement. Nothing. I probed a few bushes with the bat, just to be certain
that everything was fine. Still nothing. So we went back inside.
I pulled my chair back up to my plate and noticed something was definitely
wrong. My plate was completely empty. The stack of pancakes I had on my plate
had disappeared. Even the buttery juice had been cleaned off of the plate.
Slowly I pushed the chair back and cautiously made my way to the broom closet,
to retrieve the slugger again. That's when I noticed - "eek, eek, rahh!"
There in the closet, holding my bat was a three-foot tall monkey.
SLAM! He swung at me with the Louisville. CRASH! Then he charged! "RAHHH!
OOH-OH-AHHH!" SMASH! BANG! He managed to knock me back a few times, even
getting a good shot right into my kisser. Knocked a molar loose, at that!
I wasn't going to let this little simian get the best of me. When he charged
again, I side stepped and stuck out my foot; which he then tripped over. Score
one for the human!
Of course the little beast didn't like that move at all. He popped up from
the fall, and lunged at me. Knocking me off balance, as we both fell backwards
onto the linoleum. It quickly turned into a stalemate as we both wrestled
across the floor, neither of us giving an inch to the other.
"JAMES! BRUCE! You two boys settle down. That's enough rough housing
out of the two of you! Now sit down and eat you breakfast."
"But Mo-o-o-m, James ate all my pancakes!"
"Did not!"
"Did so, you little monkey!"
"Mo-o-o-m, Bruce is calling me names again!"
"Will you two knock it off, before I have to call your father."
